Sip ‘n See Baby Shower

A Sip ‘n’ See is kind of a post-facto baby shower where guests come over to “sip” some punch and “see” the new baby. It has all of the components of a baby shower, but you also get to meet baby.

Hosting A Sip ‘n See Party

For a Sip ‘n See, the main prerequisite is that there be something to, in fact, sip. This could be coffee, tea, or punch; with simple finger foods and/or salads.

You can go with an informal “drop-in” where guests can come meet baby anytime between a set few hours, or you could go a bit more formal  – such as a champagne breakfast or evening cocktails.

As for the games, they may not be nearly as fun as cooing over baby, but you can always have advice cards guests can fill out and leave with mom, or a short Q&A game to be dropped in a basket with a winner/prize to be awarded later.

Guests need not bring gifts, unless they choose to. If they’ve already given a gift, but don’t want to show up empty handed, you could suggest some diapers and wipes with a
note that says, “In addition to our other gift, a little something you will be needing”.

It’s really the only time it’s OK to have the soiree at mom’s house, or to have the soiree hosted by mom. But ladies, if you want to spend more time with mom, have it somewhere other than her home … and ask daddy come pick up baby, so the rest of the evening can be a girls night out!

Hmmm, we’re beginning to think this might be our new favorite kind of baby shower!
