How Many Shower Games?

Games or No Games?

Baby shower and bridal shower games are new to some, uncomfortable to others, and just downright something a hostess might be thinking she wants to avoid. I don’t blame her. After all, doing shower games means you stand up in front of all your guests, announce you’re going to do a silly activity, pretend to be excited about it if you’re not, and – at a minimum – have every single guest staring at you. If you’re afraid of public speaking, games are last on your agenda during a shower.

Best of Both Worlds

A solution? Print out the instructions, clip them to the game printouts, and bring them to the shower so someone else (a warning before the shower is always nice) can MC them for you. You’ll get the credit for planning a fab shower, but you don’t have to be in the public speaking spotlight, so to speak (pun intended).

Now That You’ve Decided To Do Games…

So, now that you’ve decided to do games, how many should you plan to do? I can tell you my recommendations, but I find most hostesses care less about what I say (even though I have years of experience) and tend to listen to other hostesses who’ve done it recently. With that said, and in line with giving you the information you REALLY want, here are our customers speaking on the subject (and if they happen to mention how much they love us, I can’t help that!)

Customers Dish on the Number of Games They Play

“We did three and all were a HUGE success… I did print out two extra games just in case one did not start right or something” – Debrah, Baby Shower, August 2009

“We played at least 10 of the games and had a blast I love the games and even referred friends to the site.” – Kristie, Baby Shower, July 2009

“The baby shower was a success, everyone loved both the Baby Bingo and the Baby Word Scramble, especially the baby bingo.” – Sheila, Baby Shower, July 2009

“The games worked out good. [Foreign Language Baby, Pregnancy How Sweet It Is!, What's Your Song Baby?] They were easy. I didn’t have to work too hard which was good. People said they were too hard but that is exactly what I wanted!” Tara, Baby Shower, July 2009

Baby Trivia and Mad Lib Nursery Rhymes.” – Colleen, Baby Shower, July 2009

“The original and fun baby games [Pregnancy How Sweet It Is!, Baby Shower Fundamentals, Things In Mommy's Purse] were a hit at my niece’s baby shower. She has named me ‘Queen of the Baby Shower Games.’ Thanks for providing an alternative to the tired, boring games that used to be!!!” – Lucee, Baby Shower, July 2009

“The best game was asking the groom questions about the bride , then having her answer the same questions and reading both at the shower [The Newlywed Game]. It gave us more insight to know her and the groom and everyone was quiet as a pin listening to the answers. … due to time, we played the Bridal Bingo, Going to the Chapel and used the brides initials to answer questions [Scattegories]. I loved reading the instructions to a new bride from the 1950′s, but we didn’t use it this time – maybe next shower…” – Diana, Bridal Shower, August 2009

“The games we played were delightful. The Bride’s Maid of Honor acted like a game show host and was very animated and funny and all the guests really enjoyed playing. The food was over the top and the decorations and blending of generational family and friends was priceless. We played Bridal Bingo, Things in the Brides Purse?, and How To Be A Good Wife.” – Sharon, Bridal Shower, August 2009

“Everyone really liked the 2 games I purchased; they were quite funny and sparked good conversation.” – Linda, Bridal Shower, August 2009

“The games were a success…What’s The Bride Wearing?, Tender Love Story, Worst Chore (the favorite), What If’s.”- Teresa, Bridal Shower, July 2009

“My sister and I thought it was so funny listening to guests trying to figure out the Which Do I Pick? game. We played the Which Do I Pick? and the What’s She Thinking? games.” – Pearl, Bridal Shower, July 2009

And The Conclusion Is…
