What if Guests Don't Like Shower Games?

I’ve heard this one before. No one wants to do the games. We hostess don’t want to force it and have unhappy guests. And sometimes, it might be best not to bother. If there are only a few guests, 8 or 9, and you all know each other – and you all say “NO WAY” at the thought of games…I won’t argue with you.

HOWEVER…if you have over 15 guests – or – if you guests DO NOT know each other very well, games are great. Yes, I said great. They are the ice-breaker. The thing to do when conversation comes to a dead stop. A way to get guests to T-A-L-K to another guest they don’t know. Sometimes we play games because they’re fun. Sometimes we (brilliant hostesses that we are) force you to play games because we want you to GET OUT OF YOUR CHAIR AND MEET SOMEONE NEW!

Lynn gets it.

Here’s what she said:

“We had a Bridal tea party complete with punch, teas and tea sandwiches. Everyone thought that would be it. (Not many of them are fond of party games). But I handed out the game, Who am I, and everyone groaned and started looking it over. There were some laughs as some of them were starting to get creative with their answers. So we passed the papers to our honored guest and let her read them out loud.

“Some of them she barely got through without laughing!

“Everyone was quiet as they tried to guess who it might be. The best part was figuring out the fibs from the truths! We had quite a few ad libbers and the party rolled on from there! Everyone was talking!

“Then when it quieted down a bit I handed out the game, “Why Do We Do That?”. Everyone was intent on this one and and serious to the end about getting this one done. We had one done early, then we waited for a few others till they were all done. Then I read the answer key and many were amazed how challenging this game was. We did have a winner with all of the match-ups correct!

“Everyone remarked how interesting this game was and challenging as many thought they had the correct answers but not always so. They felt like they really learned something about bridal traditions!

“I was complimented on how original the party games were and how everyone had a fun time together!” -Lynn

Lynn, you rock!

Everyone else, try to be more like Lynn.
