Trendy, Fun Shower Game Prizes? What to Avoid and What to Get.

Baby Shower Prizes and Game PrizesGiving small gifts to game winners isn’t new, but it is T-O-T-A-L-L-Y supported here at Funsational! It can get guests to say yes to the game…and once they start – you know they’re going to have a blast!! Plus, it always brings a smile when they win game prizes!

If you think of game prizes as a gift for the winner, you’ll be headed the right direction. Like a small Mother’s Day gift when picking out baby shower prizes, or a small birthday gift for a girlfriend when picking out bridal shower prizes. Common pricing is about $5-$15 per prize and it’s best to stay away from overused-usually-regifted candles, stationary, lotions, picture frames and magnets.

Before we list out some totally trendy and fun game prizes, here’s a few things to remember when shopping:

  • Stay true to the time of year. Flip flops for summer, slipper socks for winter.
  • Throwing everything unwrapped into a basket for the winner to pick is a great way to entice the group (and saves you wrapping them!)
  • Theme it to your party: candy bouquet, liqueur bouquet, spa items, etc.
  • You’ll never go wrong with any type of practical gift card like Starbucks, Barnes & Nobel, or the movie theater.

Last Minute Mother’s Day Ideas…and printables, too!

Yes, I admit it. I’m a last minute person. Some might consider it a personality flaw…but then again, it does kinda explain why I find it easy to design & create printable games – the last minute person’s answer to almost everything!

Back to the subject at hand: last minute Mother’s Day ideas….

Word Art

Print word art and frame it around the house. No need to run to the store to buy frames, cut your word art to fit existing frames already around the house. You just have to slip them into the frames while mom is sleeping. No problem for the last minute person to do at midnight the night before, right?

Mom’s the Queen Bee – Mother’s Day Soiree

Do you have time (and energy) to throw together a  soiree for mom? She’ll certainly love it, and you can make her the Queen Bee for the day!

Slip mom an invitation and request her presence at an afternoon celebration in her honor. Include boxed lunches (they are super simple, and you can use your remaining creative juices to decorate the sweets table), yellow sweets, yellow flowers, yellow drinks (lemonade is p.e.r.f.e.c.t.) and yellow baskets of flowers. The best part? A beehive pinata filled with housework coupons redeemable today or in the future!

Non-Lame Bridal Games? It’s All In How You Play….

Searching for non-lame bridal shower games? Sometimes it’s not the game…it’s how you play that matters; for example: 1) don’t play fair 2) never follow the rules 3) encourage talking, funny faces, and hoarding of answers…

So you’ve seen Wedding Word Scrambles tons of times. Boring & lame, right? Not necessarily…

If you take this same game, you can make it non-lame by:

  • Timing guests. They must get as many as they can in 45 seconds, and you get to talk, cajole, walk around and say “Jane has 12 answers, I hope you ladies are prepared to L-O-S-E to her…”, etc.
  • Pair off. Group guests to compete against each other, in 3′s or 4′s. A single winner from each group goes against the other winners in a different version of the word scramble. Last one standing takes the prize. (Hint: An overboard display of hoarding your answers works well here.)

Easter Game Time

We get rather excited about the fun and sense of togetherness a good game can bring to an event or gathering – and Easter is no exception! Here are some great games to play this Easter season.

Egg Cracking Game

In countries like Australia and Latvia, egg cracking is a common game to play at Easter. In this game, each player takes a hard-boiled egg and taps the end of it with their partners. When a player’s egg breaks, they are out of the game. The game continues until one person is left with an unbroken egg.

Egg Hunt

Using either hard boiled, decorated, or plastic eggs are hidden in various places for children to find. If the eggs are plastic, they are often filled with various types of candy.
